Since 1939, we’ve been helping people across Bath and North East Somerset find practical solutions to the problems affecting their lives. Every year, thousands of people turn to us for free, independent and confidential advice.
We also use evidence from the issues people bring to us to identify emerging problems and help shape local and national policy and services.
Behind every statistic
Every year, we support around 6,000 households across Bath and North East Somerset. The issues people face rarely happen in isolation, and many clients need help with three or four related problems before they can move forward.
Early advice can prevent problems from escalating into crisis. For every £1 we receive through donations and partner funding, we help secure £22.20 in financial gains for our clients.
Behind every statistic is someone who has been able to access support, improve their situation and look to the future with greater confidence.
Making a difference
One of our clients, a 31-year-old man living with health issues and learning difficulties, was struggling to manage on a low income following the death of his mother, who was his carer. He was facing rent arrears, energy debt, and increasing financial insecurity.
Working with a range of local organisations, we helped him access benefits advice, budgeting support, grants, food and fuel vouchers, assistance with housing and utility debts, and registration for priority support services.
As a result, he was able to reduce his debts, better manage his household bills, and access the practical support he needed to live more independently.
We couldn’t do this alone. Practical advice, delivered in partnership with local organisations, can make a lasting difference to people’s lives.
Every day, we work alongside Bath & North East Somerset Council, charities, housing providers and community organisations to make sure people receive the right support at the right time.
